"If I have been able to see a little farther than other men, it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants." Sir Isaac Newton

Structural engineers are responsible for the detailed design and analysis of buildings, bridges, towers and stadia. They may also design other structures such as oil rigs, ships and aircrafts. Their dedication ensures our homes, offices, schools, hospitals, universities, sports stadia, restaurants, libraries, shopping malls, factories, water - electricity - gas supplies can be built and function reliably. Their skills ensure that the bridges carrying road users, rail passengers, and utilities are reliable and economically designed and constructed.

Historic Structures

Structural Engineers have been responsible for the major landmarks we recognise in our built environment. It is encouraging, informative and stimulating to make a study of the engineering which has produced some historic structures. For the interest of the IStructEV group, we would be pleased to add any other studies by members of the group on this site. Please feel free to contact us for any queries.
